POTEAU - Law Enforcement State Question 780 amended Oklahoma laws last year,
changing the classification of certain drug possession and making
possession of fewer than 19 grams of meth a misdemeanor.

But law enforcement officials in LeFlore County didn’t have to worry
about those restrictions of Tuesday when a multi-agency drug task
force took an estimated 1/2 million dollars of methamphetamine out of
circulation after a raid on a Panama home.

Officials estimated the seizure amounted to more than four kilos of
illegal drugs, over 210 times the amount needed to make an arrest.

Jeremiah Jones and Deana Oakes were arrested during the raid and were
booked into the Leflore County Detention Center facing multiple
charges.

Investigators said an anonymous tip resulted in a search warrant that
led to the discovery of the drugs. The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics,
District 16 Drug Task Force, Leflore County Sheriff’s Department,
Poteau Narcotics Unit and police departments from Panama and Shady
Point all participated in the joint operation.
