FORT SMITH - Guests of the Best Western Aspen Hotel are counting their blessings that no one was hurt in a fire that broke out Thursday afternoon. Reports of the blaze were given to InsideFortSmith.Com just after 6:00 PM about the blaze at the location just south of the intersection of Rogers Avenue and 68th Street.

Firefighters on the scene told reporters that the fire had started outside, and then flames made contact with the side of the building.

Guests staying at the hotel were transferred to another facility. The building sustained damage to its roof and second floor.
