FORT SMITH, Ark. – Two UAFS volleyball players have been recognized for their play this past season by being named AVCA All-South Central Region.
Junior libero Autumn Reese and sophomore outside hitter Anna Demmer each received first team honors. The duo helped lead the Lady Lions to a 26-7 overall record, an 11-1 finish in the Heartland Conference and a runner-up finish in the conference tournament.
Reese, who is from Ozark, Mo., led the conference and leads the nation in digs (862) and digs per set (7.31). She was named Heartland Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference.
Demmer, who is from Lee’s Summit, Mo., was named the Heartland Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference. She led the conference and is 25th in the nation in kills (455) and kills per set (4.06), led the conference and is 13th in the nation in points per set (4.85) and was second in the conference and is 50th in the nation in aces (45).
The AVCA honors come one day after the duo earned D2CCA All-South Central Region honors. Reese was named to the first team, while Demmer was named to the second team.
