FORT SMITH – UAFS will take a brief break from Heartland Conference play on Tuesday night when the Lions men’s basketball team hosts the Bacone College Warriors at the Stubblefield Center.
Tip-off will be 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on KHGG-FM 103.1. Live statistics and live stream will be available.
It will be the final game of a three-game home stand for the Lions. UAFS began its home stand on Thursday with a 62-56 win against Oklahoma Christian but lost to conference leader St. Edwards 90-85 on Saturday.
UAFS (10-9) averages 78.6 points per game with three players averaging double-figures – senior guard Seth Youngblood (15.3), junior guard DaVaunta Thomas (11.5) and senior guard Alex Cooper (10.8). Cooper leads the team in assists per game (3.6) and needs only 10 assists to become the conference’s all-time assists leader.
The Lions out-rebound their opponents by six rebounds per game (37.1-31.1) with four players averaging four or more rebounds per game – sophomore forward Dalton Glapion (5.7), junior guard Ladarius Coleman (5.5), Thomas (5.2) and junior forward Darrius Parker (4.4).
UAFS allows 74.2 points per game and forces 13.4 turnovers per game. Cooper leads the team steals per game (1.2), and junior forward Brett Jolly leads the team in blocked shots per game (0.6).
Bacone College (3-10) has lost five in a row and is coming off an 87-71 road loss to Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday.
The Warriors average 73.3 points per game with three players averaging double-figures in scoring – guard Richie Spiller (13.1), forward JaMael Windom-Hayes (11.7) and forward Brandon Scott (10.5). Spiller leads the team in assists per game (3.6).
Opponents out-rebound the Warriors by almost one rebound per game (39.5-39), but three Warriors average four or more rebounds per game – Windom-Hayes (5.3), guard Mauris Hopkins (five) and forward Kevin Pritchett (4.3).
Bacone allows 83.9 points per game and forces 18.1 turnovers per game. Windom-Hayes leads the team in steals per game (1.25), and guard Shakur Cathey leads the team in blocked shots per game (0.3).
