FORT SMITH - As the Arkansas Municipal League convened in Fort Smith this week, the first order of business was to give the meeting’s host city an impressive award.
The 64.6 Downtown Organization received the “Best Downtown Improvement Award”. The project grew out of citizen input from the previously completed Fort Smith Future Comprehensive Plan.
“Congratulations 64/6 for the Main Street award recognizing the success of the Unexpected!” City Manager Carl Geffken said on social media. “The award was presented at the Opening Banquet of the Arkansas Municipal League Winter Conference in Fort Smith.”
The award cited the input from city leaders, citizens, and local businesses as part of the initiative’s success.
