FORT SMITH - One national organization is singing the praises of the city of Fort Smith, saying that it has cracked the list of the top 100 safest cities in the United States.
According to a study from Wallethub, Fort Smith was ranked 81st on the list of safest places to live, just behind Bridgeport, Connecticut.
“No one can avoid all danger, however, and we take on a certain level of risk based on where we choose to live. Some cities are simply better at protecting their residents from harm. To determine where Americans can feel most secure — in more than one sense — WalletHub compared more than 180 cities across 39 key indicators of safety,” survey organizers said. “Our data set ranges from assaults per capita to unemployment rate to road quality. Columbia, Maryland was named as the safest city in America as the result of the study.
