RUSSELLVILLE - The Russellville community is mourning the death of a local car dealer and his wife, who passed away Tuesday morning.
Cogswell Motors confirmed the deaths of Keith and Leanna Cogswell in a statement issued via the River Valley Leader on Tuesday afternoon. In addition to the dealership, Cogswell also owned the online publication which was formed in 2010.
“Cogswell Motors is deeply saddened to learn of the deaths of Keith and Leanna Cogswell. We will honor their memories by dedicating ourselves to continuing the work that Keith loved so much.” Dealership officials said. “Cogswell Motors desires to respect the Cogswell family’s privacy, and therefore we do not have any further comment at this difficult time.”
The automotive company has been the primary Ford dealership in Russellville and the Arkansas River Valley since the 1950’s. It was started by Keith Cogswell Sr. and passed to Keith B. Cogswell and other family members after his death. Cogswell also operated Best Ride, a used car center that sold vehicles via in-house financing notes.
Cogswell and his family were also prominent boosters of the Arkansas Razorbacks athletic programs and were familiar sights at Fayetteville sporting events.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there was no official statement from law enforcement regarding the cause of death for either of the Cogswells. They are survived by three children.
