FORT SMITH -
The Boreham Emergency Center at Sparks Regional Medical Center recently received 10 new wheelchairs thanks to a donation.
The Sparks Auxiliary donated 10 chairs valued at $10,882 to the facility. The chairs have a non-folding frame to reduce theft, but are uniquely stackable in order to save space. The chairs also have a 600 pound weight capacity, fail-safe breaking system and anti-microbial cushions.
“Safety is a top priority in our hospital and these chairs will provide safe, secure and quiet transportation for our patients,” said Joseph Kennon, Director of Emergency & Observation Clinical Services. “We are very thankful that the Auxiliary made this donation in order to help us serve our patients better.”
The ladies of the Sparks Auxiliary own and operate the This-n-That Thrift Shop on Dodson Avenue and two gift shops - Jennifer’s at Sparks Regional Medical Center and Jennifer’s Too at Sparks Medical Plaza. Auxiliary members help at all three locations. Proceeds from the shops make donations like this, as well as the valet service provided free to guests of Sparks, possible.
