Russell L. Duncan, 82, of Barling, Arkansas (formally of San Diego, California) passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was born in Cleveland, Tennessee, on Oct. 13, 1934, to Roy and Irene Duncan. He married his wife Sharon on May 22, 1955.
Russ was a devoted husband and father. He made his mark on San Diego in the early 70s and 80s as a General Contractor and Developer.
Russ loved filling his time playing his favorite sport, golf. He was a self-taught watercolorist, avid traveler, reader, and was very proud to defend his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy.
He had a zest for life that was unmatched. He lived, loved and truly enjoyed every day. Loving and providing for his family was one of his greatest joys. He was an incredible man and will be greatly missed by many.
Russ is survived by his loving wife Sharon; son Mark Duncan of Mulberry; daughter Stephanie Duncan of Fort Smith; daughter-in-law Nancy Duncan; granddaughters Blair and Adriann Duncan; grandson-in-law Jacob Carver; brother Leroy and wife Carol; nephews Phil and Danny Duncan of Louisville, Kentucky; and several other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local humane society. His ashes will be interred at The National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith.
