The Altrusa International Fort Smith Club kicked off the publicity campaign for the 2017 “Taste of Fort Smith” charity event Tuesday with a media luncheon at the Fort Smith Public Library.
Event vice chair and publicity director Debbie Findley hosted and emceed the event, which brought in area news, radio, print, electronic and media sources and personalities for just a small sample of the fare that will feed Fort Smith in two sessions on the event date and raise funds for three ear-marked charities.
“We couldn’t do this year after year without he help of every one of you in this room,” Findley told the assembled crowd. “I challenge each of you to help us get the word out and make this one of the most successful events we have ever held.”
In addition to the media crowd, who have never seen a free meal they didn’t like, representatives for the six charities that will benefit from TOFS 2017 were on hand to express their appreciation for being included in this years camaign and explain a little about their organizations.
That included representatives from the Scott-Sebastian Regional Library, the Sebastian County Humane Society, and the Literacy Council of Western Arkansas. the Crawford County Volunteers for Literacy, the Curt,Cliff and Opal Foster Care Home and the Fort Smith public Library.
Tickets go sale today (Wednesday) at any First National Bank branch. First National Bank is the 2017 event sponsor.
Tickets are $15 per person for either lunch or the dinner session at the event, which allows participants to browse and sample food, beverages and desserts from over 40 participating vendors.
All proceeds go to benefit the six named charities.
