Chris Crawford

Connors State’s Chris Crawford signed to play basketball next fall at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.

Crawford, a 6-foot-3 guard from Broken Arrow helped guide the Cowboys to the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season title, the NJCAA Region II Tournament title and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament.

“Chris will instantly make an impact with our program,” said UAFS coach Josh Newman. “He was instrumental in Connors State’s run to the National Junior College Tournament.

“His size, speed, quickness and play-making ability in the open court will be exciting to watch. Chris allows us to continue to play our up-tempo offensive style, and last year, he proved to be one of the best passers in all of junior college.”

Crawford averaged 14 points, seven assists and four rebounds per game this past season for the Cowboys, who finished 27-7 overall. He was named first team All-Conference and second team All-Region and was named to the All-Region tournament team.

He originally signed with NCAA Division I Oral Roberts, but he transferred after one semester to Connors State.
