FORT SMITH - Nighttime lows dipped into the teens overnight, and it doesn’t look to get much warmer after dark during the weekend.
The National Weather Service forecast office said Thursday they expect the frigid temperatures to continue this evening.
“Temperatures are expected to bottom out in the teens to lower 20s across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas Tonight.” Meteorologists stated. “A light wind will make it feel even colder with wind chill values ranging from the single digits to around 20 degrees.”
While no advisories were put out for the Arkansas River Valley, some counties in Southwest Arkansas spend Thursday night and Friday morning under a Freeze Warning.
Residents are urged to keep their plants and pets prepared for the colder temperatures.
