The 33-year-old suspect arrested after a high-speed chase in Fort Smith on Friday faces seven charges of felony aggravated assault, two charges of felony fleeing, one felony charge of Criminal Mischief 1st Degree-$1000 Or More, and two felony charges of theft by receiving $5,000.00 to $25,000.00- Class C.

Joshua Robert Spencer of Fort Smith was also booked on two felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death, resisting arrest, parole violation, absconding and reckless driving.

Spencer of Fort Smith was already the subject of county warrant for failing to register as a sex offender, remained jailed on Saturday night facing two no bond holds and $28,850 in other bonds after stealing a work truck from the Choctaw Travel Plaza in Pocola on Friday morning and leading officers on a pursuit that started on Zero Street, and ended in the 5100 block of Towson Avenue.

Whatever triggered the incident may have been foreshadowed by a Facebook Live video earlier in the day. Taken in a local casino, Spencer can be heard making references to having spent time in the penitentiary and that he was “fixin’ to go back”.

“Life is so ironic. Its complicated yet simple. We create the havoc yet frown upon the blessings. Searching for something to fill the void yet wallow in our vomit. #personalinventory” Spencer posted with the video at 10:30 a.m. shortly before allegedly taking the work truck from the Choctaw Travel Plaza.

The felony aggravated assault charges from the fact that several cars were hit on Phoenix Avenue during the chase.

Spencer, who was apparently on parole from early convictions for failing to register as a sexual offender. The original charges stemmed from 2003 conviction for sexual indecency with a child that occurred on June 1 of 2002 and he was subsequently convicted of failing to register as a sexual offender in 2010, twice in 2012, as well as in 2014.
In 2014 his sentence called for 144 months of imposed (conversion) jail time on May 12. Despite that 12 year sentence he obviously served less than three and 1/2 years before being paroled for the fourth time.
