It was Nov. 22, 1963, when President John F. Kennedy fell victim to an assassin’s bullet during a trip to Dallas.

Very few of those who are old enough to remember will ever forget where they were when they heard the news. For those of us that weren’t around, this was as poignant to that generation as 9/11 has been to us.

In that day and age, longform wall-to-wall coverage wasn’t even a thing. Before the 24-hour news channels dictated the news cycle of the day, an event like this left networks like CBS, NBC, and ABC scrambling to cover the event.

Here is what it looked like on CBS on that sorrowful day.
