FORT SMITH- Police have released further details on the arrest of Sebastian County Justice of the Peace Karla Reedy, who was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center on charges of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Minor on May 27th, 2020 after turning herself in for a warrant with SCSO.
Incident reports dated April 21st, 2020, detail that a Fort Smith homeowner called police to report that Reedy had damaged his yard after driving through his grass.
Police interviewed Reedy at her place of residence in connection to the report from the homeowner. Officers detail in their report that Reedy had “bloodshot watery eyes and slurred speech” when she answered the door.
Upon further investigation of the incident, it was suspected that Reedy had been driving while intoxicated with a minor in the vehicle around the time the property damage occurred.
Reports detail that the homeowner told Police that Reedy did a burn out and began speeding through the neighborhood into a cul de sac after leaving ruts in his grass before returning to her own home.
The minor reportedly jumped out of the vehicle in the cul de sac area.
Records with the Sebastian County Detention Center show that Reedy was released on a $1000 bond the same day she was booked on the charge of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Minor.
