VAN BUREN- Authorities report making an arrest yesterday that is not the kind you hear about every day.
Van Buren Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of South 40th St. in reference to a person who was underage and drinking at his apartment, according to a media release.
When officers entered the residence, an 18 year old man came out of the residence with his hands up.
“Here I am, I will go peacefully”, said the young man to the officers. The young man reportedly said he “called the police on himself before anyone else could call on him”.
Officers report they offered to let the young man go back inside and sober up, but instead he insisted he be taken to jail.
The young man was arrested for Public Intoxication and taken to the Crawford County Detention Center. The suspect was allowed to sober up before bonding out.
The suspect registered a blood alcohol content of .112 when booked into jail.
