TULSA - The National Weather Service says that large hail and strong winds could accompany some of the thunderstorms that are expected to move through Green Country today and tomorrow.
“Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected Friday as a strong cold front moves south into the area.” the Weather Service said early Friday. “Scattered severe storms will be possible Friday afternoon, with the greatest severe potential across southeast Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. One or two significant severe storms will be possible in these areas, and will be capable of producing very large hail and winds of 75 mph or greater.”
Following the chances for severe weather, a Freeze Warning has been issued for most of Northeast Oklahoma Friday night and Saturday morning. The warning cited lows in the mid-20’s to low-30’s as the main reasons for concern.
“These conditions could kill tender vegetation that is left outdoors or unprotected.” Meteorologists said.
A light wintry mix is possible on Saturday in areas north of Interstate 40.
