William H. “Bill” Shope, 91, of Gore, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 in Gore, Oklahoma.

He was born July 30, 1923 Kenton, Oklahoma, to the late Theotis John Shope and Gertrude Udell Shrik Shope. He was a Crew Chief for 35 years for American Airlines.

He was a member of Gore United Methodist Church where he was involved in numerous projects and ministries throughout the church, member of VFW Post 4609 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma, member of the Bedouin Temple in Muskogee, Oklahoma, member of the Rural Fire Protection District No. 1 where is he was still active at 80 years old and a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

He was an Army veteran of World War II where served with the 9207th Technical Service Unit Transportation Corps. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68½ years, Doris Virginia Shope.

He is survived by one daughter Delora Moore of Gore, Oklahoma, two sons Jerry Shope and wife Shirlene of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Matt Shope and wife Jan of Rockport, Texas, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and thirteen Great Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Greg Towe, Dustin Towe, Shawn Porter, Robert Campbell, Jerry Wayne Shop and Tim Mautino.
