William F. Cummins, Sr., 82, of Van Buren passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018. He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer 3 with 26 years of Military Service. He began his military career in the Navy and ended his career in the Army. He served in Korea, Thailand and is a Vietnam Veteran and a Bronze Star recipient. He was a graduate of Wichita High School East, former Wichita Police officer, and Troop Leader for the Boy Scouts of America in Charleston, AR.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jo Anne Van Cleave Cummins; his daughter, Kristy Herl and Jay; their son William F. Cummins, Jr. and Carolyn Jean Derrera Cummins; son Guy Arthur Cummins and Laurel Linneman; son Don Edward Cummins and Carolyn Ruth Sales Cummins; son Ralph Daniel Cummins and MaryAnn Martin Cummins; daughter Chrystal Lyn Cummins Parks; and daughter Carlene Jo Anne Cummins Thorman and William Jonathan Thorman. He was blessed with eighteen grandchildren. Granddaughter Katy Cassaw and Corey Cassaw; granddaughter Becky Herl; grandson William Joseph Cummins and Ashley Cummins; grandson Sean Christopher Cummins; grandson Nicholas Aaron Cummins; granddaughter Elizabeth DeAnne Cummins; granddaughter Katie Jo Cummins, grandson Shawn Linneman and August Linneman; granddaughter Tara Jean Cummins Hickman and Jason Hickman; grandson Zachary Tyler Cummins and Sheila Schroder Cummins; grandson Joshua Edwards; granddaughter Krisara Adkins; grandson Jimmy Martin; grandson Ryan Christopher Parks; granddaughter Aleshia Renee Parks; grandson Joshua Daniel Newcomb and Tracy Newcomb; granddaughter Jessica Anne Nicole Thorman; and grandson Dakota Garrett Thorman. He was also blessed with 18 great grandchildren. Great granddaughter Bailey Cassaw; great granddaughter Piper Rose Cassaw; great granddaughter Paisley Herl; great grandson Jaxon Landry Cummins; great grandson Noah Linneman; great granddaughter Nicole Linneman; great granddaughter Abigail Jean Hickman; great grandson Lucas Adam Hickman; great grandson Carson James Cummins; great grandson Colin Ryan Cummins; great grandson Zayden Martin; great grandson Ashton Brown; great granddaughter KhiAnn Brown; great grandson Talyn Martin; great grandson Jayce Martin; great granddaughter Sophia Martin; great grandson Nathan Ray Newcomb; and great grandson Daxon Wade Newcomb. He was preceded in death by his father Arthur A. Cummins and his mother Mildred L. Cummins and three granddaughters Dominque Jo Cummins, AnnaMarie Catherine Cummins and Racheal Nicole Cummins.
Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, November 9, 2018 at 10:00 am at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. Memorials may be made to Fort Smith Christmas Honors, American Cancer Society or the Shriners Hospital.
