TULSA - The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch for most of the Arkansas River Valley as temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-20’s this weekend. The Watch begins Friday at midnight and extends through 10:00 AM on Saturday.
Freezes produce conditions that will kill unprotected plants left outdoors, especially on the days of the freeze warning – Friday and Saturday.
“Precautions should also be taken to protect small plants and tender vegetation,” the National Weather Service advised. “Outdoor pets should have a warm, dry shelter with sufficient food and fresh water.”
To prepare for the suspected freeze, residents should ensure that outdoor water pipes are wrapped, drained or allowed to run in a slow steady stream, the National Weather Service also advised.
Cold weather conditions are likely to seep into next week with the National Weather Service predicting a 60 percent chance of rain/snow mix. The precipitation is expected before noon with a high near 42.
