MOUNTAINBURG - The victims of a house fire Tuesday near Mountainburg have been identified. It happened on Mote Road, just east of U.S. Highway 71.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office says 61-year-old Mary Pounder died at the scene as paramedics arrived. Her husband, 76-year-old Albert Pounder was transported to a Little Rock hospital with injuries that officials estimated covered up to 40% of his body.
InsideFortSmith.Com reader reports indicated that neighbors thought they had heard an explosion prior to the house being engulfed.
