FORT SMITH- Two young suspects were arrested by Police in the shooting of a cab driver that took place in the area near the intersection of Mussett and Newlon Road on late Tuesday evening. 

Police responded to a report of an attempted robbery on 3415 Newlon Rd. around 11:08 PM in reference to an attempted robbery on February 19th, 2019. Officers made contact with a “very frantic” victim who claimed he had been shot, according to an incident report from the Fort Smith Police Department

Officers report discovering a bullet wound behind the right ear and another under the right armpit as they examined and assisted the victim until first responders arrived on the scene.

Witnesses told police they heard three gunshots followed by a subject “yelling for someone to call 911”.

Police located and arrested suspects Keithan Norris and Norman Massey on Wednesday afternoon.

Massey and Norris currently face a Second-Degree Battery charge. Norris also faces a charge of Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons (Felon in Possession, Prior Violence).

Massey and Norris were both booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center. Norris is being held on a bond of $25,860.00 and Massey is being held on a bond of $10,200.00.

Investigations into this incident are still underway. No details have been released on the condition of the victim.
