According to information provided by the Van Buren Police Department, a teachers aide at Van Buren High School was arrested on Monday for video voyeurism after the use of a cell phone captured an image of a male student in a bathroom stall at the high school.

Kennard Lombard, 35, of Fort Smith, was arrested for one count of Video Voyeurism on Monday after a student at VBHS told a teacher that he thought someone had recorded him with a cell phone in a bathroom stall. The student told the teacher that the camera was inserted through a seam in the bathroom stall, with the camera pointed at him.

The Van Buren High School principal immediately notified the School Resource Officer, who began an investigation into the incident. After reviewing surveillance video Lombard was developed as a suspect and was asked to come to the Van Buren Police Department for an interview. After being interviewed by detectives, he was arrested and booked into the Crawford County Detention Center

On Monday, October 2nd, 2017 a Video Voyeurism is a Class D Felony in Arkansas punishable by up to 6 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Lombard remains jailed on a $15,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing at this time, and VBPD officials expect to review more video and evidence.
