FORT SMITH- The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host its annual cultural event, African Night, at 6 p.m., Friday, April 5 in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, located at 800 N. 49th Street.
Hosted by the UAFS African Student Association, the seventh-annual African Night will offer guests a night of entertainment celebrates the various facets of the African culture.
The $15 admission ($10 for UAFS students and attendees under 13 years of age) will purchase an African meal, as well as a night of entertainment featuring African performing arts groups, a fashion show and more.
“Every year, we look forward to hosting African Night because it is a unique event that brings together the campus community and the Fort Smith community to celebrate the African culture,” said Dr. Williams Yamkam, assistant professor of political science. “Besides the fact that it is a lot of fun, it also gets us to celebrate diversity on our campus and in our community. We hope to get even more people than we have gotten over the past 7 years attend this event, so that together we can celebrate our common humanity, despite our diverse backgrounds.”
