FORT SMITH - UAFS senior guard DaVaunta Thomas has been named Heartland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his performances during last week’s wins against Randall University and Pittsburg State.
Thomas, who is from Tulsa, Okla., averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and one blocked shot per game. He also shot 55 percent from the field, 33 percent from 3-point range and 69 percent from the free-throw line.
He scored a career-high 27 points and had a career-high 14 rebounds in the Lions’ 104-95 win on Saturday against previously unbeaten Pittsburg State.
