A shooting incident that resulted in two Fort Smith schools being locked down all day on Monday has area law enforcement looking for a 26-year-old male suspect.
Both Darby Junior High and Tilles Elementary were locked down shortly after 8:30 a.m. this morning and remained on that status until school was dismissed after Orenthieus D’Shaun Mays allegedly fired shots at another Fort Smith man in the 900 block of North 16th street just blocks away from both schools.
Offices were called out to the 900 block of North 16th this morning after Mays approached a residence where his current girlfriend and the father of her children were arguing. Mays was brandishing a firearm and fired three shots at the victims’ vehicle as he fled the area.
Police later discovered that the victim had two children under the age of two in his vehicle at the time of the shooting. Police said the victim has not been located but no one was injured in the incident.
Detective Lee McCabe has obtained an arrest warrant for Mays on the charge of Terroristic Act which carries $50,000 bond.
Mays is currently out on bond on a Domestic Battery 3rd Degree Misdemeanor charge for an incident that occurred in May of this year.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mays is asked to all the FSPD at 4799-209-5100 or 78-CRIME. The person responsible for information leading to his arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
