A Florida man wanted in a manhunt in July for an alleged knife attack at a National Forest Service campground area in rural Franklin County last month is expected to be extradited back to Arkansas sometime next week according to Florida officials.
Michael Leon Warrington, 49, of Chipley, Florida stands accused in the July 4th weekend incident in a rural area along the Mulberry River in Franklin County. He is facing a 2nd degree battery warrant charge for injuries sustained by an Oklahoma man at the Huggins Loop campground along the popular floating stream
Warrington was arrested and booked into the Collier County Adult Detention Center in Naples, Florida one week after the alleged assault.
He was initially booked into was booked into the detention center on a warrant out of another Florida county for failing to pay $6,146 in child support over an undetermined amount of time when officials discovered the outstanding warrant from Arkansas.
Battery in the 2nd degree is a Class D felony. Class D felonies are the least serious felonies in Arkansas, punishable by up to six years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
