LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration is taking an extra step to fight those who may park in handicapped spots illegally. A website and 1-800 number has been established so everyday drivers can report those who may not need to park there, or who might park in the spot without the required placard.
“We have set up an 800-number, and a website, where if an Arkansan is pulling into a restaurant, sees someone who they think they’re obviously abusing that spot - they don’t have a tag, they’re not disabled - they go to our website, take a picture of the vehicle, submit the information and let us take a look at it,” DF&A spokesman Scott Hardin told KATV Television this week.
The report goes on to say that the Department of Finance and Administration will check the license plate in the complaint to make sure there isn’t a handicapped privilege associated with it, and then send a letter to the offender if they believe they have a case.
Those who have a complaint can call the toll free number at 1-866-NOPARK-5 or click here to be taken to the new website.
