MANSFIELD- The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office reports that they responded to incidents twice at the Mansfield Juvenile Facility over the last weekend.
Deputies responded to the facility on Sunday to assist with a fight between detainees. Later on the same day, Deputies were requested to return to the facility following reports that detainees were out of their housing units and attempting to escape the facility.
No detainees had escaped when deputies arrived, but they had made it out of their housing units. Investigations into the incident revealed unruly behavior in the boy’s area had started the disturbance which spilled over into other parts of the camp.
The two most recent incidents bring the total count of times the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office has been required to provide assistance to the facility this year up to 7 incidents.
Several weeks ago, one of the facility’s staff members was arrested for 3rd Degree Battery after he allegedly struck a detainee in front of Sheriff’s Deputies.
To put the high incident count into perspective, the facility requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Office only 9 times for the entire year of 2018.
