FORT SMITH - The Salvation Army in Fort Smith is preparing to serve area residents that have no place to go on Thanksgiving. The organization is planning a meal from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thanksgiving Day, at their 301 North 6th Street location.

“We would love to have you join us as we thank God for the blessings He has given us.” the Salvation Army said on social media this week. “It takes a tremendous amount of food and supplies to do this, and your support is greatly appreciated. We cannot do the job we do without our wonderful volunteers who stand with us in this ministry.”

The diner will be in need of the following for their event:

  • 40 Turkeys
  • 25 #10 cans of green beans
  • 25 # #10 cans of corn
  • Gravy (Turkey or chicken flavor)
  • 100 pies (not cream pies that have to be refrigerated)
  • Sugar free pies would be welcome as well
  • Butter 1000 Individual packages and 6 large tubs for cooking
  • 10 big boxes/bags of stuffing
  • 1000 rolls
  • 6-8 gallons of milk for cooking
  • Canned cranberry sauce
  • 500 2 oz containers with lids
  • 300 3 compartment food trays (clamshells)
  • 500 dinner plates (large Styrofoam 3 compartment)
  • 500 plastic forks
  • 500 plastic spoons
  • 500 plastics knives
    (not prepackaged sets, please)
  • 1000 napkins
  • 1000 16-20 oz cups (Styrofoam or plastic)
  • 200 8-12 oz coffee cups
  • Large size tea bags
  • 1000 individual sweetener/sugar packages
  • Prefilled salt/pepper shakers
