SALLISAW - After a tumultuous term in the position of Sallisaw City Manager, Clayton Lucas has resigned his position effective at 8:00 AM this morning. The action took place at last night’s meeting of the Sallisaw City Commission.
Lucas’ job performance has been a question by several on the city commission. Relations between him and commissioners were so tense at one point, that a judge filed an injunction against current Mayor Jim Hudgens.
Now, the issue has taken an even bigger turn.
A spokesperson for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed Monday that the organization was looking into a Sallisaw city employee, although she declined to identify the person by name.
Lucas will receive a severance package that in effect, pays him through the month of May.
