The eighth of the Ten Commandments states “Thou shalt not steal” but a sinner in Sequoyah County must not have gotten the memo last week and law enforcement officials say on Monday they were still looking for a 15-passenger, 2003 Ford Econoline van that was taken from a Roland church on Wednesday.
The van, dark blue with white lettering that says “Woodland Hills Pentecostal Church”, has been missing since the unidentified suspect entered the unlocked church that was being cleaned, secured the keys and dive off with the vehicle sometime between 2 and 3 p.m. on September 27.
The cleaning lady in the church encountered the man twice inside and after realizing he had stolen the keys saw the man drive off from the south side of the church, where the van had been parked.
A church deacon told local media that he hoped the thief would rethink his decision.
“A lot of people would be upset and mad, but I just want to tell them, Jesus loves you,” Deacon Rhodes told the press “Bring the van back, we would appreciate it.”
One assumes the prodigal son might be forgiven for his transgressions should he decide to return the vehicle.
Anyone who might have seen the van or knows about it’s whereabouts is asked to call the Roland Police Department at 918-427-3252.
