Police release identity of Van Buren man killed in accident

The Arkansas State Police, in a preliminary accident report posted on Saturday morning, identified Ira Espinoza, 29, of Van Buren as the man who was killed in a vehicle accident on Midland Boulevard on Wednesday at 4:34 a.m.

Ira Espinoza, 29, of Van Buren was eastbound on Midland in the 5500 block when the 2001 Ford Ranger he was driving exited the roadway, went through the parking lot of a business and struck a light pole.

Indications are that Espinoza was traveling from Fort Smith to Van Buren when the accident occurred less than a quarter-mile from the Midland Boulevard bridge.

The identification was delayed to allow law enforcement to notify the deceased next of kin.

Espinoza was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sebastian County Coroner’s Office. Corporal Andrew Adams of hhe Fort Smith Police Department was the investigating officer.

Adams noted on his report that road conditions were rainy and wet at the time of the accident.
