A Pocola woman has died as the result of a Monday one-motorcycle accident in Polk County that occurred just before 4 p.m. on State Highway 88 on Sunday, according to a preliminary report released Tuesday afternoon by the Arkansas State Police.
The posting of the crash information was delayed by 24-hours so that the next of kin of the victim could be identified.
Laura Faye Juelfs, 51, of Pocola was east bound on State Highway 88 and failed to negotiate a right curve curve along a rural stretch of the highway, according to the police report. The 2004 Honda GL 1800 driven by Juelfs then struck a guard rail resulting in the fatal injuries.
Juelfs was reportedly in the Mena area attending a motorcycle rally sponsored by the Christian Motorcycle Association.
Juelfs was taken to the men Regional Hospital where she later expired.
Here’ death is one of 395 recorded in the state of Arkansas this year.
