TULSA - The National Weather Service says after the current round of showers affecting Green Country moves through, that severe weather is likely for next week. The Tulsa Forecast Office said on Thursday that the current models are trending toward the likelihood of strong storms as early as Tuesday night.

“Thunderstorm chances will increase early next week.” Meteorologists said. “The weather pattern is forecast to become supportive of periodic chances for severe weather.”

For Oklahomans, the tornado season has been relatively quiet in comparison to other years. For neighboring Arkansas, the count is already at 22 confirmed tornadoes through the year, the most significant striking Mountainburg on April 13th.

As for this coming weekend, pleasant temperatures are expected to move through the area, with highs in the upper 70’s and sunny to partly cloudy skies expected for both Saturday and Sunday.
