One of three ‘failure to register’ suspects jailed in Fort Smith

One of the three men sought by the Fort Smith Police Department for failing to register as a sex offender is in custody at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center after an arrest on Thursday on two felony warrants.

William Lee Andrews, Sr., 49, was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender, a failure to appear warrant from August 3 and on a parole violation and was booked into the SCADC at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

He remains jailed on a no bind hold on the parole violation and faces $18,000 in bond on the other two charges.

Andrews, whose last on-file address was in 1700 block of South X Street in Fort Smith, was convicted of Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree on December 3, 2007 for a violation in Sebastian County that occurred on February 13 of the same year. He has an extensive criminal record in Sebastian County that started with a 2000 arrest and felony conviction for residential burglary and theft of property. He has had numerous felony convictions and at least four revocations of probation in the last 17 years.

Andrews, along with Kenneth Green, 52, and Albero Silva, 34, was the subject of a press release on Thursday morning by the Fort Smith Police Department. Andrew was taken into custody later that same day.
