No word when Topeka’s governing body might meet again to whittle down the list of city manager candidates.

Fort Smith deputy city administrator and Jeff Dingman is one of the five administrators still being considered for the post.

The five finalists were in Topeka Friday and Saturday for interviews and a public meet and greet.

Mayor Larry Wolgast had said he and council members hoped to narrow the field to two candidates by Saturday night. However, after 13 hours of meetings, the governing body took no action, instead saying they would set another meeting to gather information and discuss the candidates further.

City spokesperson Amy McCarter said on Monday that they have yet to set a date for another special meeting.

The city is working to find a permanent replacement for Jim Colson, who left in October.

Interim Topeka city manager Doug Gerber is among the final five. The others are Dingman; Jason Gage of Salina; Brent Trout of Mason City, Iowa; David Hales of Bloomington, Illinois;
