Charges against a Fort Smith male who shot the boyfriend of his sister on Saturday night were amended to include felony aggravated assault on a family member or household member in addition to the original charge of 1st degree felony battery.
The original report reported cited the 1st degree felony battery charge but the second charge was aggravated assault without the added family member/household member distinction.
Nicholas Keaton Love, 19, of Fort Smith was booked into the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center at 2:50 a.m. Sunday morning after being apprehended at a Van Buren residence.
The Fort Smith police reported that Kiowa Bales was shot in the back, and taken to a local hospital for treatment. A family member later told Inside Fort Smith that Bales was shot in one hip with an exit wound in the other hip
Bales and his girlfriend, Cierra Sivage, live together at the Boardwalk Apartments at 4201 Kinkead Avene and Love, Cierra’s brother, Nicholas stopped by for a visit shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday night.
According to the police report, sometime during the visit, Sivage and Love got into an argument and Bales intervened. During the argument, Love pulled a gun from his pants and as thhe cope were walking back towards the apartment, at least one shot was fired striking Bales.
Love remains in the custody of the SCADC on a no bond hold.
