Governor Asa Hutchinson

LITTLE ROCK — Asa Hutchinson today announced his plans to run for reelection as Governor of Arkansas.

Under Hutchinson’s leadership, Arkansas has seen significant job creation and economic growth.

Hutchinson issued the following statement:

“I’m delighted today to announce my intentions to seek another term as your Governor. There is no better job than serving the people of Arkansas as Governor. When I ran in 2014, I outlined specifically what I would do as Governor; promises that I made and kept. I am running for reelection to expand on our progress from pro-growth tax reform to marketing our state to the world to create more jobs here at home. You are the reason I am Governor and I’m asking for your support of my reelection”

During the 2014 campaign for Governor, then candidate Hutchinson made several campaign promises which he proceeded to fulfill as Governor.

Promise: Jobs Governor

  • Fulfilled: Nearly 60,000 new jobs have been created in Arkansas and we are currently experiencing the lowest unemployment rate in the recorded history of our state.

Promise: Computer Coding to be Taught in Every Public High School in Arkansas

  • Fulfilled: In his first legislative session, Hutchinson fulfilled his promise by championing legislation to offer computer coding in every high school across the state. The number of students enrolled continues to grow.

Promise: Lower Income Tax Rates by $100 million

  • Fulfilled: Since assuming office, Hutchinson has enacted the largest cuts to income tax rates in the history of the state. Income tax relief totaling more than $150 million has been provided to hard working Arkansans.

Promise: Hiring Freeze in State Government

  • Fulfilled: On his first day in office, Hutchinson implemented a hiring freeze across all of his executive agencies. This has resulted in the elimination of approximately 1,400 positions with savings of approximately $40 million.

These are just a few of the fulfilled campaign promises that Hutchinson has accomplished. However, there is more work to be done to continue to ensure that Arkansas remains the best place to live, work and raise a family.
