FSPD hunting for man wanted on kidnapping, drug charges

Fort Smith police are looking for a a man wanted in connection with a Russellville kidnapping after the stolen van he was driving was stopped on Highway 45 and he managed to flee, eluding police.

The suspect also faces drug charges out of Yell County.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Fort Smith K9 officers attempted a traffic stop on a van displaying stolen tags near the intersection of Highway 45 and Siegenthaler Road.

When the vehicle stopped, a white male wearing shorts and a red t-shirt fled the scene.

Police discovered the van was reported stolen out of Siloam Springs, and have identified the fleeing suspect as 34-year-old Brad Alan Chambers.

Chambers is currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for kidnapping out of Russellville, and failure to appear on possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and cocaine charges out of Danville. He now will face felony fheft by receiving, fleeing, and outstanding warrants in our area.

Police lost sight of Chambers in a wooded area between Highway 45 and Highway 71 near Planters. Chambers reportedly has been staying at hotels in Fort Smith area.
