FORT SMITH - If you’ve ever had a daughter and she has her ears pierced, there is probably a good chance it happened at a Claire’s store. The company said Monday that although it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, it expects to emerge from its’ $2 Billion in debt by as quickly as September, and will likely keep most locations open during that time.
In addition to the longtime location in Fort Smith’s Central Mall, the store operates two Northwest Arkansas locations, a Muskogee location, and several in Central and Northeast Arkansas.
The store estimates that over 100 Million sets of ears have been pierced by their company since opening in the 1960’s.
