Within hours of Logan County Sheriff Boyd Dan Hicks announcing he would not be seeking reelection, a child welfare attorney and Logan County reserve deputy has announced he is a candidate for the position.
Jason Massey of Booneville made the announcement on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
“After consulting with my family and with Logan County Sheriff Boyd Hicks, who has decided not to run for another term, I am announcing my campaign for Logan County Sheriff.
My experience and dedication to law enforcement makes me uniquely qualified to serve as your next Logan County Sheriff. I have worked at the Logan County Sheriff’s Office for the past ten years where I started as a patrol deputy working the midnight shift and advanced to criminal investigator supervisor.
I also served as the jail administrator and was involved in the designing of the new jail alongside Sheriff Hicks. Prior to moving to Logan County with my family, I worked for the Saline County Sheriff’s Office as the Administrative Captain and served as the leader of the Jail Transition Committee when the Sheriff’s Office went from a 50 bed to a 183 bed jail.
I currently work as a child welfare attorney for DHS and as a part-time deputy with Logan County.
I am very excited about this opportunity to campaign for Logan County Sheriff and to make Logan County safe for you and your family.
Sheriff Hicks has led the Sheriff’s Office with a strong work ethic and a dedication to service and I promise to continue this drive for excellence in law enforcement. I ask you for your prayers and your support. Thanks!”
