Officials in Pope County said on Monday the body found in a rural north of Hector on Sunday is thought to be that of 36-year old Charles David “Justin” Waterman, who was reported missing in May from the Scottsville community.

Waterman’s has been the subject of an ongoing search after his family reported him missing. At the time, family members said he was on medication and it was unusual for him to be missing for an extended period of time me without contacting them.

The Pope County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call Sunday of a body that had been discovered in a wooded area just off of Newton Springs Road north of Hector and investigators were called to the scene for processing. Documents found on the body indicate the deceased individual is Waterman, although the body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for positive identification.

According to Pope County officials the he death is being treated as a suicide and no foul play is suspected.
