Rohan Smit

FORT SMITH - Local police officers were threatened in the process of trying to investigate a reported domestic disturbance on Thursday. 50 year old Rohan Smit was taken into custody after officers responded to the 8500 block of South 28th Street.

“Officers attempted to make contact with a possible victim after speaking with a witness in the area, but were unable to find her at the residence. At approximately 12:40 P.M. a subject who identified himself by the name of Rohan Smit called and made contact with a Fort Smith Police Department dispatcher and threatened to shoot Police Officers if they came back to his residence.” the Department said in a release. “A warrant was sought and obtained for Rohan Smit and was served at his residence by the Fort Smith Police Department S.W.A.T. Team.”

Smit was arrested and taken to the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center without incident where he was charged with Terroristic Threatening 1st Degree.
