TULSA - The National Weather Service says that some parts of the region could be subject to a wintry mix of precipitation later tonight as colder temperatures move into the area.

” A cold front will sweep through the area today bringing a chance for showers across portions of southeastern Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas. Rainfall amounts are expected to be light,” Meteorologists said Monday. “The backside of the precipitation line may yield a brief period of a mix between sleet and freezing rain depending on how fast subfreezing air can bleed in. Ice accumulations across southeast Oklahoma will be minimal and confined to elevated surfaces such as bridges, overpasses, and hill tops.”

Most of the wintry mix is expected to the south of Arkansas State Highway 10.

Residents of the region can prepare for a nearly twenty degree drop in temperatures as the thermometer will register a high of 65 degrees today, however tomorrow’s high is expected to be around 46 degrees. Lows will be near the freezing mark.
