Dr. Jim Herndon
SALLISAW - Funeral services will be held tomorrow for a longtime area physician who was killed in a traffic accident on Friday night. Dr. Jim Herndon will be laid to rest after a memorial service to be held Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Herndon was westbound on Interstate 40 in his 2001 GMC Yukon, when his vehicle left the roadway. The wreck took place approximately six miles east of Checotah.
Herndon was in recent years a resident of the Edmond area after serving at hospitals in both Sallisaw and Fort Smith.
Memorial services, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home, will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw.
