Fort Smith police say they believe as many as 33 rounds of ammo were fired into a camper during a shooting incident that left one man dead on Saturday night. Officers responded to the 2300 block of North 9th Street around 10:30 PM, finding 18 year old Justin Lopez dead upon arrival. Another man at the scene, 20 year old Trey Miller was unharmed.
According to statements taken by investigators, Lopez exited the camper after hearing a noise to find a group of males outside. As he retreated inside the camper to hide, Miller took shelter in the restroom. Police say they believe two rifles were involved in the incident.
Two persons of interest are being questioned by detectives.
