An 18-year old Arkansas from El Dorado died in a drowning incident in the waters off Pensacola Beach in Florida on Thursday, according to Escambia County Sheriff office officials.

Eighteen-year-old Farano Walter, a student at the University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College, was vacationing in the area from Arkansas and had been swimming in the Gulf.

He went under sometime after 3 p.m. on Thursday in an area about 30 yards off the shore and never resurfaced.

The Escambia County coroner released identification of the drowned man just after 2 p.m. on Friday.

Escambia County Fire Rescue were called to the drowning in an area about a mile east of Park East and recoved Walter’s body at approximately 5 p.m.

At this time, officials say it is too early to officially rule the death a drowning, however foul play is not suspected in the death.
