FORT SMITH - The Fort Smith School Board gave Woods Elementary School a lot of recognition for a laundry list of excellent things that have happened during this school year.
“This has been a big year for Woods Elementary. They were named a High Achieving Elementary English Language Arts School. ELA courses include English, Writing and Reading. The award is given to the highest performing elementary schools based on the Arkansas ACT Aspire exams.” the Fort Smith School District said via social media this week. “And, they were designated a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School. This United States government program honors schools that are achieving high levels of student achievement or they have made progress in closing the student achievement gaps. Woods was named an Exemplary High Performing School, meaning they are in the state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments.”
Students, teachers, and administrators were recognized at Monday night’s meeting of the Board of Education.
