We’re not sure who sits around and compiles these things, but someone with way too much time on their hands did a report on the “drunkest city” in each state.
Ours was no surprise.
According to 24/7 Wall Street, the drunkest area of our grand land is Northwest Arkansas. (We realize it is not necessarily a “city” but someone forgot to tell those folks in New York City that despite the fact all those towns run together, they are separate places).
“Excessive drinking includes binge and heavy drinking. In Arkansas, 15.3% of adults report excessive drinking, less than the 18.0% share of adults nationwide and the ninth smallest share of any state.” the report stated. “In the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers metro area, located in the northwest part of the state, some 15.6% of adults report excessive drinking, the highest share in Arkansas yet less than in most U.S. metro areas.”
The report also indicated that the more money one has, the more likely they are to imbibe.
“Wealthier individuals are more likely to drink excessively, and the typical household in Fayetteville earns $51,848 a year, the highest median household income of any Arkansas metro area.” the report concluded.
And all this time, we thought all the drinking was done on Dickson Street.
